Revolution in a Bottle: Can packaging save the world?

Tom Szaky is the founder and CEO of TerraCycle, an innovative company that rewards consumers for collecting packaging waste, then “upcycles” it into an array of consumer products (think backpacks, pencil cases and kites).

TerraCycle, through partnerships with major CPG companies like Unilever and Kraft, has amassed a waste collection “brigade” more than 10 million strong and has collected upwards of 2 billion pieces of waste and turned those materials into products available at more than 20,000 big box stores like Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

Founded in 2001 by then 19-year-old Princeton University freshman Szaky, Terracycle has twice received the Home Depot Environmental stewardship award, has been featured in Wal-Mart's sustainability report and is repeatedly referred to as “the ultimate eco-friendly brand”.

Find out how Terracycle is on its way to eliminating the idea of “garbage”…and how its “zero waste” philosophy might just influence your brand’s packaging sustainability strategy.
